======================================================================== TELEBIT Corporation Revision 1.02 01 APRIL 1990 ======================================================================== CURRENT FIRMWARE VERSIONS AND UPGRADE INFORMATION By Bob Boynton, Corporate Systems Engineer, TELEBIT Corp. Edited by C. E. Castillo, UNIX Communications Specialist, TELEBIT Corp. To display the version of firmware in any TELEBIT modem, type the command: AT I3. TELEBIT can not determine, accurately, the version of firmware installed in your modem from the model and serial number alone. If you have questions, or need assistence, call TELEBIT Technical Support at 408-734-5200. To order upgrade kits, contact a TELEBIT dealer in your area. If you don't know of a TELEBIT dealer, call 1-800-TELEBIT, and ask to talk to one of our sales representatives who will gladly assist you. TELEBIT Modem Models RA12E and RA12C The original TELEBIT TrailBlazer, DCA Fastlink, GTE TrailBlazer, and Tallgrass Ranger modems are built on the RA12 platform. If the "ATI3" command returns "Version AA3.01-AB3.00A" you have the latest revision. The PC modem and the External use exactly the same code. This is the "Protocol Support" release, for fast uucp, Kermit and Xmodem file transfers. It also supports MNP calss 3 on slow connections. The upgrade will not turn your TrailBlazer in to a TrailBlazer Plus. Data Compression and Fast Interactive features are only possible if you communicate in PEP with two Plus modems. The order number for this upgrade is RA12X-UK3. TELEBIT Modem Models T18SA and T2SAA These are the TrailBlazer-Plus stand alone modems. The newer T2SAA is distinguished by the buttons on the front panel, but is otherwise the same. The current firmware available is BA5.01. It supports the Conventional Command Mode (CCM), so it will accept commands just like the latest Hayes modem, as well as new features in the Enhanced Command Mode (ECM). The primary usefulness of the CCM is to be com- patable with software that will not operate in the ECM. MNP Class 5 is now fully supported. All TrailBlazer Plus modems since the first release contain the protocol support feature. Upgrading may not necessarily improve performance in your application. Call Technical Support if you have questions regarding the new features, or about problems you are experiencing to determine if you should upgrade. The Order number of the upgrade kit for the stand alone TrailBlazer- Plus is UK-T2SAA. \f TELEBIT Modem Model T2SAS The T2000 looks just like the TrailBlazer Plus, and they share a common manual, so check your model number on the label fixed to the bottom of the modem to be sure you are obtaining the correct upgrade kit for your. model. There is a new release, BC5.00 which supports all of the new features mentioned in the BA5.01 release for the Plus. To order this upgrade ask for UK-T2SAS. TELEBIT Modem Model T18PC The internal TrailBlazer Plus is now available in the version BB5.00. The main feature added is MNP class 5 in slow connections. An upgrade kit may not be immediately available for this code. Contact TELEBIT Sales Support at 1-800-TELEBIT for availability. TELEBIT Modem Model T1SA The T1000 began shipping with FA2.00 on November 1, 1989. MNP class 5 is supported with this version. The upgrade kit may not be immediate- ly available for this code. Call TELEBIT Sales Support at 1-800-TELEBIT for availability. TELEBIT Modem Model T1PC The one and only release on the T1000 PC internal card is BL4.00. TELEBIT Modem Model T1RM Since it's introduction, the T1000 Rack Card has used FC2.00. TELEBIT Modem Models T18RMM-T1 and T18RMM-T2 The Rackmount modems come in two varieties. If the serial number begins with 07XXXXXXX, it is a T1 type. The last released version for these units is BB4.00, and can be obtained with the order number UK-T18RMM-T1. If the serial number begins with 14XXXXXXX, the last version released is BA5.01. The order number for the T2 units is UK-T18RMM-T2 \f TELEBIT Modem Models T25SA and T25RM The T2500 stand alone and rack mount modems both currently run GA2.00 code. If you have GA1.00, you have the initial release which does not allow full functionality as described in the addendum. If you have not already mailed in the upgrade post card, call TELEBIT Order Entry at 408-734-5200. Give us the serial number(s) of your modem(s) and we will send you a free upgrade kit to bring you up to the GA2.00 level. If you then send back to TELEBIT the GA1.00 PROMS we will mail you a cer- tificate for a 50% discount on the next release for the T2500, when it becomes available. TELEBIT also has a upgrade policy for owners of older TELEBIT modems who wish to move up to a T2500 or a T2000. The cost of this upgrade varies depending on the model and date you purchased your original modem, and the model you wish to upgrade to. For more information, call 1-800-TELEBIT.
