.TH XUSETI 1 4/7/7 .UC 4 .SH NAME xuseti \- stand\-alone useto for X .SH SYNOPSIS .B xuseti [ options... ] [ [host.]user... ] [ host:display ] .SH DESCRIPTION When invoked on the proper type of terminal, \fIxuseti\fR produces output similar to that of \fIuseto\fR(1c). Every minute it will put the day, date, time, tty, load average, disk usage on the status line. In addition, \fIxuseti\fR will also report about mail waiting for the effective user. This can be changed by specifying the users that \fIxuseti\fR should check mail for on the invocation line. .PP The options are: .TP .B -a When new mail or bulletin bboard messages arrive, alert the user somehow (e.g., ring the bell on the user's terminal). .TP .B \-b "bboards" Check for new mail on the bulletin boards specified by the argument. The BBoard names are separated with spaces. .TP .B \-e Don't print an error message if \fIxuseti\fR fails. .TP .B \-f "string" The format string used by \fIxuseti\fR to print on the status line. The escapes are listed below. .TP .B \-g "string" Ignored: retained for compatibility with \fIuseto\fR. .TP .B \-h "host[:string]" The format string used by \fIxuseti\fR to report the status of the named host. If no format string follows the name of the host, \fIxuseti\fR uses \*(lq%n:%l1". Usually, you can list several hosts and corresponding format strings, each preceeded with the `\-h' switch. If you wish to disable the status of a host from being printed, use \*(lq\-h host:\*(rq. .TP .B \-k Have \fIxuseti\fR stop printing on the status line. .TP .B \-p Exit if running on a pty. .PP When \fIxuseti\fR updates your terminal, information for your local host is output first. Then, space permitting, information for each host specified with `\-h' is output. Unlike \fIuseto\fR, \fIxuseti\fR will not output information for hosts on the localnet which are not specified with `\-h'. .SH "`%'\-ESCAPES" The current `%'\-escapes are: .sp .nf .ta \w'escape 'u +\w'Local 'u \fIescape\fR \fIlocal\fR \fIsubstitution\fR %% a single `%' %L L the name of the local network (e.g., \*(lquciics\*(rq) %N the network name of the host (e.g., \*(lquci\-icsa\*(rq) %n the network nickname of the host (e.g., \*(lqicsa\*(rq) %a the shortest name of the host (e.g., \*(lqa\*(rq) %T L the name of your terminal (e.g., \*(lqtty00\*(rq) %t L the short name of your terminal (e.g., \*(lq00\*(rq) %D L the day of the week (e.g., \*(lqSun\*(rq) %d L the day of the month %M L the month of the year (e.g., \*(lqJun\*(rq) %y L the year of the century %h L the hour of the day (0 to 23) %m L the minute of the hour (0 to 59) %H L the normalized hour of the day (1 to 12) %p L a or p (hence %pm gives \*(lqam\*(rq or \*(lqpm\*(rq) %l1 the 5 minute load average %l2 the 10 minute load average %l3 the 15 minute load average %l4 the disk load average %l5 the number of users logged in %l6 the number of active users %l7 the number of idle users %u the uptime %U \*(lqup\*(rq if the host is up, \*(lqdn\*(rq otherwise %z users with new ZOTnet mail %b L BBoards with new items .re .fi .PP The default format string is: .sp .ti +.5i %D %d-%M-%y %H:%m%pm %N:%t %l1 %l2 %l3 [%l4]%z%b .SH "SEE ALSO" .I useto(1C) .SH DIAGNOSTICS Obvious. .SH BUGS Doesn't accept a geometry specification.
