AMSFonts 2.0 Metafont sources Here are a few notes about using the Metafont files: 1. Euler fonts 1) These fonts were developed for use in AMS production ata resolutions of 300dpi and greater. Below that, particularly at the low resolutions used for some screen previewers, you may get Metafont errors. Please ignore these error messages. The easiest way to do this is to say "\scrollmode" at the beginning of your Metafont run. The characters at low resolutions will have some holes in them. This is expected. 2) Do not use a version of Metafont which has cmbase.mf preloaded. If, when you run Metafont, you see " preloaded base = cmplain" or anything other than "preloaded base = plain," you should recompile your Metafont executable file so that cmbase is not preloaded. This is because the Euler fonts use their own base file, eubase.mf, which conflicts with cmbase. 2. AMS Symbol fonts The Blackboard Bold letters in msbm fonts were developed for use in AMS production at resolutions of 300dpi and greater. When generated at resolutions below 300dpi (or at very small point sizes at 300dpi), Metafont errors will occur. See item (1) under Euler fonts for more information about this. With certain mode_def's, msam5 will produce a Metafont error on the clockwise circle (octal character 10; decimal character 8). In most cases, the character will still be drawn without flaws.
