                                  SAXER

    Presented by John Saxer at  the  Dallas 1984  Usenix  Conference, 
    this test measures disk throughput. The 8 source files are compi-
    led then executed (I/O operations) alternatively  to defeat cache
    advantage. This test measures  the  combined  performance of  the 
    hardware : the disk and its controller, and of the software : the
    filesystem. It may also give some indications for  diskless  sta-
    tions (NFS throughput). The throughput value is given  after dif-
    ferent manipulations (creation, write, read, random access, pipe)
    and a write of a 10 Megabytes file.
