Ericsson Alfaskop MENUFILE

The menu the operator sees after the system has loaded, and what each entry actually starts.

The file is a series of 512 byte blocks. Each block holds nine 54 byte records followed by 26 bytes of zero padding, 9 * 54 + 26 = 512, and the records do not run across the block boundary. Record 0 of the first block is the screen layout, the title and the prompt; the menu entries follow in the remaining slots.

Each record is:

35	8	Volume name to look on, blank for the current volume
43	8	Logon name looked up in that volume’s logon table
51	3	Load map number

An entry can name a volume that is not the one it is written on. The 4016-101 diskettes offer ALO Allocate discette, volume CONSOLE and logon CONSOLE, which is the 4014-101 Terminal Console Functions diskette, and AW Alfaword, volume ALFAWORD and logon ALFAWORD, which is the 4017-021 AlfaWord diskette. Both volume names match the volume label of the medium they point at.

Note that the two AlfaWord entries ask for logon names ALFAWORD and AWCUST while the logon table on the 4017-021 diskette carries alfaword and awcust, so the case does not match between the two media as shipped.
