November 14.1984 Dear Tom. Thank you for the wonderful pictures you sent me for now sometime ago, I have finally got time to organize my own. Thereby Iwas reminded of the days we spent with you before we left Canada. We all wish to thank you and Kae for the way you threated us. Ihave found some pictures of my own that might be of interest toyou and include them, the one of the Ultralight might be goodenough to interest your neighbour and I shall be happy to makemore copies. Our journey home was remarkably easy in spite of the mountainof luggage that we had to carry. To our great surprise we didnot have to pay overweight and our reservations on Royal Canadianclass gave us quite a comfortable trip. Coming home was quite atreat since our neighbours had "broken in" and placed Welcome-_home signs all over the place and even prepared lunch and leftit in the fridge, we had no problems feeling at home again. The girls have started school and have settled in very easily.Ulla is thinking of going back already next summer and is lookingfor a job that can make it possible to earn enough money for theticket. Lise has taken her gymnastics training very seriously, the team she is on are touring around giving performances at allkinds of arrangements. Morten has got a new bicycle and is beco_ming the horror of the neighbourhood mainly because he oftenlooses control of the bike an stumbles into things. Coming home to the department was no great experience every_thing was still going in the same groove and I had not been awaylong enough that I was forgotten. As a result a load of work waswaiting for me and courses were planned as well. I have not beenable to do much about the ODE solver until recently when I didsome work on discontinuities using G-stops. I have sent copiesto Ken and Wayne and include one for you. My courses have turnedout very well this term, I have had 17 students in ODE`s and theyseem to be working well some of them have been producing inter_polation formulae for different kinds of Runge Kutta methods thatmay become useful. One or two are interested in doing some testingtoo. Denmark has dressed in autumn coulors now and they are a lotless spectacular than those of Algonquin park but when the leavesare blowing in the wind and there is a special smell in the woodsit feels good to be back home again. I am going to attend theDahlquist meeting in Stockholm in January and I hope to see youthen. Best Wishes from all of us Morten,Lise,Ulla,Kirsten and Per
