If your system includes _n_r_o_f_f input files, _c_a_t_m_a_n creates
preformatted versions of the on-line manual from the input
files. _c_a_t_m_a_n also creates the whatis data base (used for
     _a_p_r_o_p_o_s and _w_h_a_t_i_s commands).

Each page of the manual is examined, and the preformatted
versions that are missing or are out of date are recreated.
If any changes are made, _c_a_t_m_a_n recreates the whatis data-
     base.

----nnnn Prevents recreation of the whatis database.

----pppp Prints the command instead of executing it.

----vvvv Displays progress information for each file pro-
                 cessed.

----dddd _d_i_r Specifies the directory containing input. The
                 default is /usr/man.

----wwww Creates the whatis database. The manual is not
                 reformatted.

----mmmm_m_a_c_r_o_s Specifies a macro package. The default is ----mmmmaaaannnn.

_s_e_c_t_i_o_n_s Specifies the section(s) of the manual to be
updated. (For example, enter ``123'' to update
                 only sections 1, 2, and 3).
