# Ident: @(#)Help 13.4 (RC International) 91/12/09 ABSTRACT:Restore Service. The "restore service" menu allows you to manage the restore side of the backup and restore service. Functions are to restore a filesystem totally, to restore one or more files, or to run restore(8) interactive. F1:top path name. All the files are loaded relative to the top path name. The choice key displays the visible mount points at the moment, but other legal path names may exist. If you want to restore files in the dumped file system, you enter the path name for the top of the file system; e.g. /usr1 to restore files in the file system usr1. F2:enter tape device node. Here you may enter another name for the source from where the files will be loaded. The default name is the enviroment variabel "TAPE" or /dev/mt070 if "TAPE" is not set. F3:display the files as they are loaded. If you enter 'yes' here, a survey of the path names for the specified files are given if they occour on the tape. F4:path name survey. Enter 'yes' if you only want to get a survey of the specified files. If you enter 'yes' here, the previous choice of 'file survey of loaded files' will be insignificant. F5:select restore method. Here you may choose - to load all the files on the tape or - to load one or more files as specified in a submenu or - to run the restore(8) utility interactive. The files specified will be loaded into the current directory. In the interactive case the following commands are available: ls - cd - pwd - add - delete - extract - verbose - help - quit. For further explaination se the manual for restore(8). F6:select tape file. Here you select the tape file number as an integer greater than zero. The tape file number depends upon how the tape was made. Normally there is only one file on each tape, but it is possible to specify 'no rewind' to dump(8) and then call dump again with the same tape as target, and the dump will then be placed in tape file number two, and so forth. In this way it is possible to save several volumes on the same tape. sgl_files:F1:restore one or more files. Here you may enter the files to be restored, by writing the path name of each file. The path names must be seperated be spaces. Because the input field has vertical scrolling, it will be possible to write a large number of path names. WARNING: If nothing is specified, then the root directory is extracted, which will result in the entire content of the tape being extracted.
