# @(#)add.Help 13.3 (RC International) 91/12/04 #ident "@(#)oamintf:usermgmt/add.Help 1.6" ABSTRACT: The "add" task allows you to define either a new user or a new group on your system. Form.add:add:User or Group Enter "user" or "group". If you select "user", you will see a form that asks for all definition information for the new user. If you select "group" you will see a form that asks for all definition information for the new group. Form.addgrp:grpname:Group Name Enter the name of the new group. It must be a character string from 1 to 8 characters in length. It may not include a colon (:). The group name must be unique (that is, it may not be the same as a group name already defined on your system). Form.addgrp:grpid:Group ID Enter the numeric ID to be assigned to the new group. The numeric group ID is a number that uniquely identifies the new group on the system. It must be a number between 100 and the maximum value defined for your system (32767). The system automatically chooses a default value for this field by picking the next available nonreserved group id. Form.addgrp:primem:Primary Members Enter the list (0 or more) of primary members of the new group, separating each by a comma. Primary members belong to this group when they log in to the system. The user definition for each login listed will be updated to reflect the new group as the primary group. Enter either login id's or numeric user id's in this list. Form.addgrp:supmem:Supplementary Members Enter a list (0 or more) of supplementary members of the new group, separating each by a comma. Any supplementary members may execute the newgrp(1M) command after they log in and become a member of the group. Enter either login id's or numeric user id's in this list. Form.addpswd:pwstat:Password Status Enter the password status for the login. Pressing CHOICES will give you the following choices: lock - locks the password so the login cannot be used. no password - assigns no password to the login password - assigns a new password to the login If you choose "password" under "status", the screen will clear and the prompt, "New password:" will appear. Enter the new password. You will then be asked to verify the new password. After the task completes, you should press <RETURN> to return to the interface. WARNING! The login is not usable with its status set to "lock", and the login is not secure with its status set to "no password". Form.addpswd:maximum:Maximum Number of Days the Password is Valid Specify aging information associated with the password. This is the maximum time the password will be valid. If left blank, "infinity" is assumed. Form.addpswd:minimum:Minimum Number of Days Allowed Between Password Chages Specify the length of time that must elapse before the password may be changed again. If left blank, "0" is the default. Form.addpswd:warn:Number of Days for Warning Message Enter the number of days for warning message to be displayed prior to login's password expiration. This number should be in days. Form.addusr:comments:Comments Enter any comments about this user login. Typically the name of the new user is included here. This information will appear in the comment field of the new user's login definition entry. It must be a character string that does not include (:). Form.addusr:login:Login Enter the login to be assigned to the new user. The login is the id the user types to log in to the system. It must be a character string from 1 to 8 characters in length. It may not include a colon (:). The login must be unique (that is, it may not be the same as a login already in use on your system). Form.addusr:useid:User ID Enter the numeric ID to be assigned to the new user. The numeric user ID is a number that uniquely identifies the new user on the system. It must be a number between 100 and the MAXUID value defined for your system (commonly 60000). The system automatically chooses a default value for this field by picking the next available nonreserved uid. Form.addusr:prigrp:Primary Group Enter the primary group of the new user. The primary group is the group assigned to the user upon login. It gets associated with all files the user creates unless the user has executed the newgrp(1M) command. The value entered in the primary group field may be either a valid group name or numerical group id. Form.addusr:supgrp:Supplementary Group Enter a list of groups for which the user will have supplementary memberships. For any of these groups, the user may execute the newgrp(1M) command after login and become a member of that group for the duration of that login session. There is no default value for this field, and you may leave this field blank. Form.addusr:homedir:Home Directory Enter the path name of the new user's home directory. It must be a unique home directory (i.e. it may not already be used). The default home directory is "default_base_home_dir/login", where "default_base_home_dir" is "/home" unless you have changed it with the "defaults" task, and "login" is the login of the new user. Form.addusr:shell:Shell Enter the full path name of an existing shell. It must be an existing executable file. The shell is the program that gets executed for the user upon login. Form.addusr:inact:Login Inactivity Enter the number of days of login inactivity after which user cannot login. Form.addusr:expire:Login Expiration Date Enter the date beyond which a user cannot log in. This date must be a future date and must be in the following format: dd/mm/yy. Form.addusr:admin:System Administration Privileges Enter Yes or No. Yes will enable this user to perform system administration functions within this interface. No will restrict the user from performing any system administration functions in this interface.
