_s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e should be called from ////eeeettttcccc////iiiinnnniiiittttttttaaaabbbb when entering
multi-user mode. The utility saves the memory dump of the
system (assuming one was made) and writes a reboot message
     in the shutdown log.

_d_i_r_n_a_m_e Names a directory to save dumps.

_t_a_p_e_n_a_m_e Names a tape device to receive dumps.

_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e Specifies the system host (as returned from the
_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e command) where the _b_f_i process will col-
lect and save the dump. This causes a TCP socket
               connection to the remote host.

----dddd _d_i_s_k Specifies the single disk to use as the dump dev-
ice (the disk to read the dump from). The name is
given in the ////ddddeeeevvvv////ddddssss__d_i_s_k form. With this option,
_s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e reads any dump from the specified disk,
else _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e reads all dumps, on all disks, done
               by itself.

----nnnn Causes _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e to clear all dumps.

----uuuu Causes _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e to write an informative message to
               ////uuuussssrrrr////aaaaddddmmmm////wwwwttttmmmmpppp.

_s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e saves as many dumps as it finds, in files named
_d_i_r_n_a_m_e////ttttxxxxccccoooorrrreeee....nnnn. The trailing ``.n'' is replaced by a
number that is incremented every time _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e is run in
     that directory.

Before _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e writes out a memory image, it ensures that
at least the minimum free space is available on the filesys-
tem that contains _d_i_r_n_a_m_e. The minimum free space is speci-
fied by a number in the file _d_i_r_n_a_m_e////mmmmiiiinnnnffffrrrreeeeeeee. If the
minimum free space is not available, the memory dump is not
written. If the mmmmiiiinnnnffffrrrreeeeeeee file does not exist, _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e
always writes out the memory file (assuming that a core dump
     was taken).

If mmmmiiiinnnnffffrrrreeeeeeee exists, we recommend setting it to at least the
size of physical memory (Kbytes). For example, mmmmiiiinnnnffffrrrreeeeeeee
would be 8192 for an 8-Mbyte system.

If there is insufficient space in the file system to contain
the dump, _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e prints a diagnostic on the console and
then exits with non-zero status. The error exit aborts the
automatic reboot, and the system enters single-user mode.

The _s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e utility also writes a reboot message in the
shutdown log. If the system crashed as a result of a panic,
_s_a_v_e_c_o_r_e records the panic string in the shutdown log.

     space conditions.
