_r_l_o_g_i_n connects your terminal on the current local-host sys-
tem to the remote host system. The _r_l_o_g_i_n command is under-
stood implicitly if both 1) the user's PATH contains a com-
mand name with a symbolic link to _r_s_h and 2) a valid
     remote-host name is given.

     _r_h_o_s_t Names a remote host.

----eeee_c Specifies a different escape character for use on
the remote terminal. No separating space is
allowed between this option flag and the argument
              character.

----8888 Allows an 8-bit data path. Otherwise, parity bits
              are stripped.

     ----llll _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e
Specifies a username for the remote login. A space
must separate the option flag and the username.
This allows a login for a username that is dif-
ferent from the current user on the local host. As
described below, the full log-in procedure is
              required (including the password.)

/etc/hosts.equiv,,,, ccccoooonnnnttttaaaaiiiinnnniiiinnnngggg aaaa lllliiiisssstttt ooooffff _r_h_o_s_tnames that share

as described in the _r_s_h command.)

An _r_l_o_g_i_n as the same username (on an equivalent host) does
not require a password. Each user may also have a private
     equivalence list in a file named .rhosts _i_n _t_h_e _u_s_e_r'_s _l_o_g_i_n

_u_s_e_r, _t_h_e _r_h_o_s_t prompts for a login and password on the
remote machine as described in the _l_o_g_i_n command.

To avoid security problems, the .rhosts file must be owned
by either the remote user or root and must not be a symbolic
     link.

Your remote terminal type is the same as your local terminal
type (as given in your environment TERM variable.) System
use via _r_l_o_g_i_n is transparent (except for delays) since all
echoing takes place at the remote site.

Flow control is managed via ^S and ^Q. Input and output is
     flushed on interrupts.

A line of the form ``~.'' (tilde-dot) causes a disconnect
from the remote host, where tilde ( ~ ) is the escape char-
acter. As described above, a different escape character may
be specified by the ----eeee option.

^Z suspends the remote session (if Control-Z is the suspend
sequence). The delayed-suspend character (usually ^Y)
suspends sending to the remote host, while allowing output
     from the remote host.
