2.1 H̲a̲r̲d̲w̲a̲r̲e̲ ̲C̲o̲n̲f̲i̲g̲u̲r̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
PC crate equipped with the following modules:
One CPU-SCM single bus, CR8002M. SCM proms are CR1903,
CR1904, and CR1905 containing the hard disk bootloader
identified as CSS/123 version 0601.
Two 128 kW RAM, CR8016M. The uppermost memory section
(#3) is used for disk controller RAM.
One Floppy Disk Controller, CR8047D with HW address

Unit test of CI is performed by entering a test sequence
of commands. The performance of CI is verified by inspection
of AMOS messages sent to pseudo packages (test drivers)
named TRC, CISDRV, and SCADRV.
These pseudo packages are implemented as AMOS processes
along with the CI process under test.
All three test drivers implement facilities for:
- dumping variables on the VDU. During the dumps,
interrupts are disabled to ensure continuity.
- procedure tracing, i.e. register dumps at entry
and exit from procedures together with the procedure
name
- receiving commands and sending responses from/to
CI
All test driver processes will indicate that they have
been started by dumping their own process context (special
purpose process variables). The procedure tracing facility
is tested as well.
Each test driver then enters a waiting position ready
for receiving commands from CI packed as AMOS messages.
Upon reception of a command from CI each test driver
will dump the command and send an answer to CI indicating
that the command has been successfully executed.
The TRC test driver will furthermore simulate a mode
switch when necessary by altering the mode variable.
The mode variable is as present assumed to reside in
absolute address #FFFF of memory section 1.
Testdriver TRC precedes the response sent to a LOGOFF
command by sending an ENABLE STATUS response to release
the AMOS message buffer for reporting link errors.
See appendix A1.
A SHOW STATISTICS command issued to the CISDRV process
will return the following result parameters to CI:
FRAMES TRANSMITTED = #AA
FRAMES RETRANSMITTED = #BB
FRAMES RECEIVED ERROR FREE = #CC
FRAMES RECEIVED WITH ERROR = #DD
All four parameters are sent as unsigned, 16 bit CR80
integers as indicated in appendix A3.
Testdriver process SCADRV will return the following
parameters in response to a SHOW STATISTICS command:
FRAMES TRANSMITTED = #01
FRAMES RETRANSMITTED = #02
FRAMES RECEIVED ERROR FREE = #06
FRAMES RECEIVED WITH CRC ERROR = #04

Contrary to the CISDRV parameters, SCADRV figures must
be interpreted as elements of a SWELL byte array.
The figures indicating CRC error, too long frames,
and too short frames are added to yield the parameter:
'FRAMES RECEIVED WITH ERROR' which will be presented
as decimal 22 to the operator. See appendix A5.
The SWELL code for the main programs in test drivers
TRC, CISDRV, and SCADRV are shown in appendices A1,
A2, and A4, respectively.

Prepare a boot module as described in the text file:

Follow the procedure given in appendix B in order to
copy the boot file from the floppy disk to the CMD
disk of the test system.
Once the boot module has been copied to the CMD obtain
the BFD number of the boot file. This number has to
be input to the bootloader.
User commands for copying the boot module to the CMD
are shown underlined in appendix B.

CI sends AMOS messages containing the commands entered
from the VDU. The format of these AMOS messages are
defined in PC/PDS/001, issue 1.2, section 4.2.1.3.1.
Appendix C1 contains the actual SWELL prefix with type
declarations for messages sent to process TRC.
Appendix C2 and C3 contain the SWELL interface declarations
used for communication between CI on one side and SCADRV
and CISDRV on the other side.
Names used in these type declarations are referenced
during inspection of the messages received by test
drivers TRC, CISDRV, and SCADRV.

4. C̲O̲N̲C̲L̲U̲S̲I̲O̲N̲
The test results of appendix D and section 3.3 show
that CI is in conformance with the design except for
some difficulties during reception of error messages
when the VDU is not patched in.
Errors discovered:
1) 1) Testdriver TRC will violate the I/F specification
for answers to CI by inserting an illegal value
in the field TRC ̲RESPONSE. ID, e.g. as in app.
D3, TRC answer to CI, where the constant 0024 should
have been 0000 corresponding to TRC ̲LOGON ̲ID. This
error has no impact on the test, as CI will use
the AMOS event index for identification of answers.
Remedy: described in app.A1.
2) SCADRV dump procedure will write the ASCII value
as the 7 LSBits regardless of whether the byte
in question is writeable or not. E.g. D4 is written
as 'T' in app. B4. Remedy correct the character
range check in SCADRV procedure,
"copy ̲to ̲ASCII ̲line", line 00.00189.
This test applies to V0101 of CI.
