1. Overview
The D_12_7_4 patch release for the Rational Environment is
primarily a maintenance release, for the D_12_7_3 Release of the
Environment which contains:
* Fixes problems from previous releases, enabling existing
commands to work correctly.
* Adds new features and information.
2. Supported Configurations and Upgrades
D_12_7_4 supports the following configurations of the R1000:
* Series 200 (Models 10, 20, and 40)
* Series 300 System (300S)
* Series 300 Coprocessor (300C) for the IBM RISC System/6000
and Sun Workstation servers
* Series 400 System (400S)
3. Compatibility
D_12_7_4 is fully compatible with all production versions of
Rational layered-software products (See Table 2 of the D_12_7_3
Release Note for a complete list).
4. Upgrade Impact
You must be running D_12_7_3 in order to install this patch release.
If you are running an earlier release you will need to upgrade
to D_12_7_3 first, before you can install this patch release.
The Environment can be upgraded to D_12_7_4 without forcing
you to Archive.Save and Archive.Restore your applications. You
will not have to modify or recompile any of your own tools.
Rational does not provide tools for reverting to previous
releases of the Environment. You will be able to revert to the
previous release, however, if you make a complete backup of the
Environment, including the Diagnostic File System (DFS), before
you upgrade.
5. Known Problems
There are no known problems introduced by this D_12_7_4 patch.

6. New Environment Features
D_12_7_4 provides three new features:
6.1 DFS/KERMIT There is now a Kermit capability available at
the CLI.
6.2 Show_Excelan_Trace Collects information equivalent to
Tcp_Ip_Dump but for Excelan Network Controllers (Series
200 and 300 machines).
6.3 Rational Access now supports the IBM Swedish Keyboard.
7. Changes from D_12_7_3
This section describes the changes, enhancements, and
user-visible problem fixes that D_12_7_4 makes to existing
features of the Environment.
7.1 Disconnect on Hang-Up and Disconnect on Disconnect now
works for Series 300 and 400s.
7.2 Networking Fixes:
7.2.1 A problem which caused CMC controller crashes has been
fixed; and memory dumps now have the correct information
in them after IOP Kernel Crashes. Series 400s only.
7.2.2 A problem which caused TCP (FTP) hangs on Series 400s only
has been fixed.
7.2.3 A problem on Series 400s only which caused initial
connections (FTP) to be refused has been fixed.
7.2.4 A problem which caused FTP 425 (Data connection refused)
has been fixed. Series 200, 300, and 400s.
7.2.5 The problem that caused the transport route table on
Series 400s to loose its data has been fixed. See
Installation Note for information on removing previous
workaround.
7.3 Rational Access Bug Fixes:
7.3.1 Access no longer crashes when you exit from a session
while you have an uncommitted file.
7.3.2 Doing File-Close on a file that still has highlighted text
now saves the highlighted region correctly.
7.3.3 Edit-Typing Modes, Insert and Overwrite, now work correctly
(are no longer reversed).

7.3.4 Invoking Access with "-iconic" option on the command line
now correctly brings up the icon.
7.3.5 CtrlF4 + End-Of Key now correctly does Image.End_Of.
7.4 A Page Clearing Microcode bug that caused system crashes has
been fixed. Affects only those D3.1 systems using ucode
M207_41 and M207_44 (Use EEDB: VD $ to see which ucode you
have).
7.5 Confidence Tests (Udiag) no longer reports a Tagstore Parity
Error when booting after power off. Affects all systems with two
32MB memory boards.
7.6 Booting the rewrite program from tape now works. NOTE:
Requires that you create a new DFS backup. Applicable to all
systems.
7.7 On boot the IOP Kernel version now correctly identifies itself.
All Series 300 and 400s that are running D3.1.
7.8 This release includes the correct version of
!Machine.Editor_Data.Session_Switch_Help
