~heading(Installing the Catalog)
To install the Software Catalog, perform the following steps:
~startnp
~np
Mount the Software Catalog tape on the tape drive.
~np
Create a Command window and enter the following: ~cmd(Archive.Restore)
~np
Promote this command. This will install the Software Catalog on your machine.
~endnp
~heading(Browsing the Catalog)
To browse the Software Catalog, perform the following steps:
~startnp
~np
Add to ~cmd(!Local) a link which points to the
~cmd(Browse_Catalog) procedure you just restored.
~np
Edit your searchlist to have an entry for ~cmd(!LOCAL`).
~np
Create a Command window and enter the following: ~cmd(Browse_Catalog)
~np
Promote this command. This will execute the Software Catalog browsing
program. If you have never used this program before, it is a very good
idea to browse the Preface and Appendix first. If you need help, press
~key(S_F5) on Facit terminals, ~key(F11) on R1000 terminals, and
~key(ESC-H) on VT100 terminals (or emulators).
~np
All responses to the browser should be entered with the ~key(Promote) key.
~endnp
~heading(Extracting Items)
The browser presents you with a menu of items which can be extracted from
the Catalog and installed on your machine.
Once you have selected an item which you would like to extract, you will
be asked where you would like to place the item. You may enter any valid
Environment pathname, or you can simply enter ~key(Promote) (which will
place the item in the same location it was in when it was saved onto the
tape).
Some items in the Software Catalog import other subsystems. When you
extract an item with imports, the Ada units in the item will not be
promoted automatically, and the log will list the imports necessary to
promote the units. You will need to add the imports yourself using
~cmd(CMVC.Import).
~heading(Feedback)
If you want to submit a bug report on something in the Software Catalog
(or on the browser), use the ~cmd(Request) program.
If you want to contribute something to the Software Catalog, contact
your technical representative.
