The following materials are available:

   - a Facit_Commands for the Facit:
         located in !!Rational!Local.Rational_Like_Facit_Keymap

   - a keymap template set for the above keymap:
         located in !!Rational!Local.Keymap_Document_Ps (postscript document)

(the original -- in case you want to change it -- is located in the
Facit_Keymap file in the "MacDraw Stuff" folder on the "General
User" disk which can be accessed via the MacServe desk accessory when
booted from one of the Network disks -- see me if you need help)

The above-mentioned Facit_Commands file is populated with comments, some of
which follow:

   -- OBJECTIVE:
   --
-- PROVIDE A KEYMAP WHICH MAKES THE TRANSITION FROM A RATIONAL TO A FACIT
-- TERMINAL AS EASY AS POSSIBLE FOR CURRENT RATIONAL TERMINAL USERS.
   --
   -- METHOD:
   --
-- PROVIDE A SET OF KEY BINDINGS WHEREIN THE GENERAL MODEL IS TO USE [ESC]
-- AS A WHEREVER [META] IS USED AS A MODIFIER ON THE RATIONAL TERMINAL.
-- UNFORTUNATELY, THE [ESC] KEY IS A SEPARATE KEYSTROKE.
   --
-- SUPPORT A KEYMAP WHICH CLOSELY RESEMBLES THE RATIONAL KEYMAP -- INCLUDING
-- THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL PLACEMENT OF ENTRIES -- GIVEN THE LIMITATIONS
-- WITH RESPECT TO THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES POSSIBLE, THE FUNCTIONING OF THE
-- [CTRL] AND [SHIFT] KEY MODIFIERS, AND THE [ESC]/[META] KEY EQUIVALENCE.
   --
   -- SUPPORT A CURSOR/ITEM KEY-BASED TRAVERSAL MODEL WHICH PROVIDES A COMMON
-- SET OF BROWSING OPERATIONS AND DOES NOT REQUIRE THE HANDS TO BE
-- REPOSITIONED WHILE PERFORMING THIS SET OF OPERATIONS.

-- SUPPORT COMMON BROWSING OPERATIONS WITHOUT REPOSTIONING HANDS
               --
               -- OPERATIONS INCLUDE:
-- - A CURSOR KEY TRAVERSAL MODEL USING ESC_<ARROW> KEYS
-- (SIMILAR TO USING C_M_<ARROW> ON THE RATIONAL TERMINAL)
               -- - IMAGE UP/DOWN USING S_<ARROW> KEYS
               -- - WORD LEFT/RIGHT USING [ESC]-[OBJECT] AND [ESC]-[WINDOW]
               --
-- NOTE: THE SHIFT KEY DOES NOT MODIFY THE LEFT AND RIGHT ARROWS
               --

Some comments regarding the Facit terminal:

THE GOOD:

   - display which is "good" to the eyes
   - total of 72 lines of display
   - item and operation key placement is similar to the Rational terminal
   - excellent keyboard "feel" (although I realize this is somewhat personal)
   - good ergonomics with respect to (y-axis) screen and keyboard positioning
   - certain terminal operations are faster (highlighting is slower, however)

THE BAD:

   - only 12 function keys and limited modifier key capability
   - control keys do not (auto) repeat and CTRL doesn't modify all keys
   - cannot turn off the audible bell signal
   - large footprint
   - no x-axis screen swivel capability
   - on occasion, some keystroke "bounce" => double characters

THE UGLY:

   - difficult to see the difference between period/comma & colon/semi-colon

Things you should know:

Currently, the shifted F12 key generates the same code as the NUMERIC_COMMA
key. This will be fixed with a later software release (as the terminal is
programmed by the R1000, in this case).

If setting up a new terminal, setup/programming instructions are available from
KML.

ESC ESC ESC generates a single ESC (C_LEFT_BRACKET)
